“Wasteland”
“Wasteland” explores the symbiotic relationship between fast fashion and environmental degradation. Within the unconventional canvas of a secondhand vending machine, a symbolic natural habitat unfurls, challenging conventional paradigms of consumption and industrialization. Every component utilized in this project, all sourced from secondhand items, serves as a testament to society’s cycle of consumption and waste. The vending machine is a repurposed wardrobe, metaphorizing society's thirst for immediacy and overconsumption. By juxtaposing the artificial construct of industrialization with the organic essence of nature, “Wasteland” articulates a compelling commentary on the detrimental impact of human activity on the environment. Through the intricate interplay of soft sculpture and thoughtfully curated secondhand garments, “Wasteland” speaks to our environment’s inability to flourish as it is trapped within society’s structure.
